Harry W. Layne Jr., formerly of Sissonville, passed away Aug. 30, 2008, at his home in Chesapeake Beach, Md., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Feb. 9, 1950, he was the son of the late Harry Sr. and Marie Hulbert Layne.

Harry was a true patriot, having served his country for 22 years with the United States Air Force, traveling throughout the world to protect his country. After retiring from the Air Force, Harry worked for the United States Postal Service, where he was one of many men who worked to get the Brentwood P&CD (Curseen & Morris) reopened after the 9-11 contamination.

Harry and Meta loved to travel and were former members of Randy's Raiders and Candy's Kick'in Country. While members of Kick'in Country, they appeared on TNT.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 22 years, Meta Miller Layne; two daughters and their husbands, Yvonne and Charles Clements of Bryans Road, Md., and Marsha and David Estep of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Joshua, Amanda and Trevor Clements and Samantha Estep; brothers and their wives, Michael and Patty of Sugarland, Texas, Kenny of Ohio, Joe of Charleston and Terry and Karen of Winfield; sisters and their husbands, Connie and Gary Bolyen of Stow, Ohio, and Margie and Alex Gumowski of South Charleston; and mother-in-law, Yvonne Miller of Fairplain.
