Regina A. DeJarnette, 98, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Mattingly of Columbus, where she had lived for the past seven years.

Survivors include her daughters Carolyn Mattingly of Columbus and Mary Ann (Chris) Skene of Kissimee, Fla.; sons, John T. (Debbie) DeJarnette of Columbus and Jim DeJarnette of Hardinsburg, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

The funeral arrangements have been made at Trent & Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, Ky. Calling will be before the funeral mass at 11 a.m. today. The funeral will be at St. Romuald Catholic Church in Hardinsburg, where she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church while residing in Columbus.

Mary Regina Askins DeJarnette, age 98 of Columbus, IN formerly of Hardinsburg, KY died Sunday, August 31, 2008. She was born in Breckinridge County on 6-20-1910, the daughter of the late Albert Eugene and Mary Estella Ruppert Askins.

She retired from Tobin's General Merchandise, was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Regina enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband: J T DeJarnette and her brother: Ruppert Askins.

She is survived by 4 children: John T. DeJarnette, Jr. and Carolyn Mattingly of Columbus, IN; Jim DeJarnette of Hardinsburg, KY; Mary Ann Skene of Kissimmee, FL; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11a.m. CDT at St. Romuald Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Bickett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
