Mrs Hazel M Whittaker of Tyrone, formerly of Van Ormer, died April 12, 1989 at Altoona Hospital. Mrs Whittaker was a former teacher in the Reade Township and White Township elementary schools for many years, and also taught at the Faith Tabernacle Church School in Beaver Valley. She was born Dec 9, 1899, in Van Ormer, the daughter of E. Jesse and Jane (Stiffler) Coy, and was married four times; first on April 21, 1920, in Altoona, to Clifford Troxell, who died in July 1927; then to Walter Kough, then to Si Shomo, both of whom preceded her in death, and then in 1968 to Arthur Whittaker, who died in Dec 1973, Surviving are two daughters: Merlyn Chappa and Florean Beck; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Martha Chilcote, Verna Troxell, and Genevieve Kleinmeyer. She was a 1918 graduate of Reade Township High School and attended Ebensburg Normal School for two years. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
