Levi Leslie "Lee" McConnell was born in Idaho, the only one of his parents' (Frank and Eunice McConnel) six children who wasn't born in Iowa. In 1895 the family was back in Iowa; in 1900 they were in Kansas.
Lee was in Pueblo, Colorado in 1910, married to Nettie McIntosh. They had several children (Leroy L., Everett W., Earl Francis, and possibly another son named Bill or Bob who may have died young). Lee served in World War I, mustered into the Colorado National Guard. He became a Sergeant in Company F of the 40th Division's 115th Ammunition Train.
Lee married Sylvia G. after 1920. In 1930 they had three girls: Lucille Irene, Jeanne (or Gene) E., and Virginia L.
