Son of Miami University's first president, Robert Hamilton Bishop and Ann Ireland Bishop. One of two members of the first graduating class of the theological seminary located in Hanover, Indiana which later became Chicago's McCormick Theological Seminary. Professor of Latin at Miami University for more than 50 years. Known by students as "Old Bobby." Husband of Eliza Lyons Bishop. He died in the family home (now demolished) on High Street in Oxford, Ohio that housed three generations of the Bishop family.
