From the SOUTH BEND (IN) TRIBUNE, August 31, 2008:

SOUTH BEND - Gerald Marvin Myers, 93, formerly of Wagon Lane in South Bend, passed away Friday morning at the Arborwood Living Center in Granger. He was born on November 11, 1914, in South Bend, to the late Henry Ross and Mary Alice (Wolfe) Myers. On June 5, 1937, he married the former Ruth Price at Epworth United Methodist Church in South Bend. Gerald had also lived in Colorado for 18 years and in Ohio for five years before returning to South Bend. Gerald was a tool & die maker and also worked in quality control for IBM while living in Boulder, Colorado. He was also a member of the Elks. Gerald had many hobbies, but the two that meant so much to him
were hunting and fishing. In fact, he was known to redesign most of his fishing gear.
You could find him changing his lures and making special casting bobbers. He also
enjoyed traveling with his wife. They traveled to all 50 states plus Canada, Australia
and New Zealand. They really enjoyed their visits to Alaska. In his younger years, his
love of music led him to playing the fiddle and violin with local bands. He and his wife
enjoyed dancing at such places as the Arogon Ball Room and Silver Palace to the music
of big bands.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Ranstead, Mildred Trezise and Marge Beutter; and three brothers, Clarence Myers, Frederick Myers and Henry Myers Jr.

Gerald is survived by his loving family, his wife of 71 years, Ruth Myers; his two daughters, Elaine Fleischauer and her husband, Roger of Wakarusa, and Susan Spradley and her husband, Robert of Upland, California; his two sons, Charles "Dan" Myers and his wife, Mary of Granger, and Kenneth Myers and his wife, Kay of Peoria, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving are his three sisters, Betty Jean Bordner and her husband, Virgil of Osceola, Dorothy Bartolini of South Bend, Shirley Waggoner and her husband, Bernard of South Bend; and his two brothers, Richard William Myers and his wife, Arlene of Mishawaka, and Jack Lee Myers of Mishawaka.
