Son of Jonathan Rhyne and Rebecca Hoffman Abel Brown Rhyne served in Co H of the NC 49th during the civil war. He married Martha C Hollandon July 31, 1861 in Gaston County. They were the parents of Julia, Clarence Ephraim and Betty Rhyne. Martha died in 1873 and Abel then married Sarah Elmina unknown and they are the parents of Ida Adel, Bruce G, Minnie Mae, Lelah G, Ernest B, Trust Abel and Beulah Peach Rhyne.
