Mrs. Maria, widow of the late Walter Hoyt, of Bridgeville, died on the morning of Feb. 1st, aged 83 years. Her first husband was Henry Race, who died in 1868. She married Mr. Hoyt about 1874. For some years she has resided with her oldest son Austin Race at Bridgeville. She was a daughter of Capt. William Sears, who settled in the eastern part of the town of Thompson about 1808. She leaves four daughters and five sons: Austin, of Bridgeville; Orville, of Chautauqua county, N.Y.; George, of this town; Guernsey, residing in Massachusetts; Robert, of Wayne county, Pa., and Mrs. Edward Sylvester and Mrs. Joseph Wright of Chautauqua county; Mrs. Sarah Westfal of Binghamton, and Mrs. Hezekiah Reynolds of Hurleyville, this county. Funeral services on Saturday at one o'clock, at the Bridgeville Methodist church.
