His parents were Clifford McDuffie and Cecile Katherine Medlin Christian. His grandparents were Matthew Alexander and Hattie Sue Branch Medlin, maternal greatgrandparents were James and Mary L. Johns Medlin and John Needham and Martha Alice Davis Branch originally from Tennessee. His paternal grandparents were Daniel Hezekiah "D.H." and Leona Butler Christian, also originating from Tennessee. His paternal great grandparents were Mack Duffie and Rebecca Leach Christian and Fitzgerald and Lou Yarber Butler. His great great grandfather (from the Christian side ) was L.K.
He had 2 children, Donna Tunell and Paul Edward Christian.
Don (Leon as his siblings referred to him) was the oldest of 8 children, Billy Gene Christian, Raburn Christian, Rebecca Sue Christian Eledge Simonton, John Wayne Christian, Patricia Ann Christian Whitson, Wanda Lou Christian McCall and Brenda Kay Christian Darnell; a half brother Chris DeWyatt Story.
He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, Ca.
