Stephen Leroy Appelman, 39, went to start his new adventure Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, in Arlington.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, with Father Phil Johnson officiating. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with a vigil beginning at 7.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Stephen was born Sept. 3, 1968, in Dallas to Leroy and Diane Hampton Appelman. He was self-employed and loved taking care of his tropical plants. Stephen met many friends online through his joy of reworking flashlights. He was heavily involved in the online community flashlightnews.net as a board member and flashaholic.
Survivors: Mother, Diane J. Appelman; father, Leroy D. Appelman and wife, Eunice; grandparents, Gene and Virginia Hampton; uncles, John Hampton and Jim Hampton; aunt, Patricia Bassett; and numerous cousins and friends.
