Owen H. McGinnis, aged 84 life-long resident of this vicinity died at Izard County Memorial Hospital, Melbourne, last Wednesday morning, following an illness of several weeks. For the past several days he had been at the home of his son, Orous McGinnis near Dolph and was removed to the hospital the early part of the week.
Mr McGinnis was one of this section's best known and most highly respected citizens and enjoyed a wide acquaintance in this vicinity. He was born in this locality and his early life was spent at Pineville. He was married to Miss Willie McNeill who preceded him in death by several years. Mr McGinnis had following farming the greater part of his life. He had lived on his river farm near Creswell for about 45 years.
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Zimery McGinnis of the home; one son, Orous McGinnis of Dolph; one sister, Miss Pearl McGinnis of Batesville and two brothers, John H. McGinnis of Calico Rock and Solon McGinnis, Gentry, Ark.
Funeral services at Spring Creek Church Thursday afternoon, with Rev. C. Wesley Grisham, pastor of the Calico Rock Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery under direction of Hall Funeral Service.
