Viola "Maxine" Atwood, of Londonderry, passed from this life on August 23, 2008, surrounded by her family. Maxine was born on September 28, 1924, to the late Orvan and Emma Fout Arganbright. On November 8, 1943, she married the late Raymond "Earl" Atwood, who passed away on October 10, 2007.

She is survived by children, Karen (Larry) Carpenter, Vicki (Dennis) Mitchell and Ron (Roni) Atwood, all of Londonderry. Grandchildren, Brenda Faught, of Londonderry, Heather (Mike) Congrove, of Chillicothe; three stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Micah and Hunter Congrove; and one stepgreat-grandson. Also surviving is a brother, Earl Arganbright, of Londonderry.

She was preceded in death by a baby sister, Avis Arganbright; and sisters-in-law, Linda Arganbright, Wylodene Sowers and Arlene Atwood. Brother-in-law, Eugene Sowers; and special grandson, David Carpenter, whom she loved dearly.

Maxine worked in the family business, the A&A Texaco, for many years. She was for a short time an EMT with the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department. She was a devoted homemaker to her family, whom she loved and they loved her as well. She will greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services were entrusted to Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home of McArthur, Ohio.
