Haywood Vance (Cogene) Belton, 64 of Pine Grove Trailer Park, Winston Salem, died last Thursday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury following a 2 1/2 month illness. He was a former sales mannager of Radio Station WPAQ in Mount Airy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Moody Funeral home Chapel. Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Belton was born in Surry County, the son J.O. and Mary Jane Shaw Belton. A veteran of World War II he was an employee of the US Government in Washington, DC for 15 years. At the time of his death, he was sales manager of WKBX Radio in Winston Salem.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Paul Chappell Sr. of Winston Salem, Mrs. Louise Sprinkle of Washington, DC, Mrs. Ruth Pastrekow and Mrs. Doris Cox, both of Mount Airy, and Mrs. Clyde Coperland of Elkin.
