MRS. FREEMAN PIONEER CITIZEN DIED FEBRUARY 3; THE ARCADIAN;

Mrs. Harriet Eliza Freeman, widow of James W. Freeman, and one of DeSoto County’s oldest residents, died February 3 at Arcadia General Hospital.

Mrs. Freeman was born October 20, 1867, in Otway, Ohio, and came to DeSoto County 67 years ago from her native state.


She is survived by a son, Arthur F. Freeman of Nocatee, and three daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Woods and Mrs. Nelson Conkwright, both of Iowa City, Iowa and Mrs. Mary Freitag of Mesa, Arizona. Ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services conducted last Saturday afternoon from Robarts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J. J. Martin officiating. Burial was in Fort Ogden Cemetery.
Pallbearers were, Barney McLain, Gerald Taylor, Jim McCormilk, Earnest Cowart, S. N. Smith, Ernest Brewer, and Sam Reynolds.
