James D. Wade, 82, a former Houghton, Michigan, business owner, died March 31, 2003 at Cypress Manor in Hancock, Michigan.

He was born in Gilmore, Texas on February 24, 1921 to James and Kate (Sutton) Wade and he attended Texas Schools.

During WW II, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force and then served for 20 years.

He was married to Gloria Schutz on June 16, 1945 and together they owned and operated the B & B Bar in Houghton for many years.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton and also belonged to the Alfred Erickson Post 186 American Legion in Hancock and the Portage Post 1292 V.F.W. in Houghton.

He was survived by his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Mary Janelle (Joe) Siller of Lake Gerald; four sons, Jim (Donna) Wade and Don (Theresa) Wade, both of Houghton, Robert "Pete" (Masako) Wade of Japan, and Ron (Karen) Wade of Hancock; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Stapleton of Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Michael.

A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Church.
