In 1905 Wallace and Elenora were living at Kenosha with their sons Hart and Glen. But by 1910; Wallace was residing at Milwaukee in the National Soldier's Home (Northwestern Branch); while his wife Elenora is residing with her eldest son Harry J., wife Tracy, and their two boys Clarence and George at Kenosha.
Perhaps Wallace was too ill to continue living at home. Being a veteran, Wallace was entitled to live at any National Soldier's Home even if he had no war injury and was free to come and go if able. Wallace continued living here until his death in 1929. Wallace is buried in the Wood National Cemetery at Milwaukee, adjacent to the National Soldier's Home; while Elenora is buried in Hickory Union Cemetery at Antioch.
