He was born June 9, 1908, to Wiley Columbus and Emma (Everett) King at Salem, Ark. He received his early education in Arkansas and graduated from Salem High School. While attending school, he also worked on the family farm. After graduation, during The Depression, Mr. King worked at many jobs from Flint, Mich.. to California. He settled at Pomona, Calif., in 1936 and went to work for the Southern California Natural Gas Corp.
He married Lela Duckworth on Feb. 2, 1940, at Bellflower, Calif. They lived at Pomona, Calif., until moving to Ontario, Calif., in 1950. Mr. King retired in 1973 and he and his family moved to Wenatchee in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, at home; a son, Larry of Ontario, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Mack (Karen) McCown of Wenatchee; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
