Lewis Lee Rhodes, 72, died at his home in Muldrow, Okla., on Aug. 1, after a long illness.

Mr. Rhodes was born in Missouri in 1877 but moved to Madison County in his early life, remaining here until 1901 when he moved to Muldrow, Okla. He spent the remainder of his life there with the exception of two years in this county, 1928 and 1929.

He was married to Belle Gage in 1897 and to this union eight daughters were born, all of whom survive. They are Rhoda Osborne, Roland, Okla.; Annie Corbitt,Van Buren, Ark.; Ollie Allen, Dollie Norrid and Connie Reese of Muldrow, Okla.; Hallie Burcham, Vain, Okla.; Velma House, Arkoma, Okla.; Nettie Davis, Wesley. Other survivors are eight brothers, Henry, La Habra, Calif.; Ben of Missouri; Albert of Kansas City, Mo.; Austin, of Muskogee, Okla.; Jess and Frank of Muldrow, Okla.; Charley of Huntsville; Newton of Jamesport, Mo.; one sister, Dorthula Counts, of La Habra, Calif.; 43 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Burial was in Camp Creek cemetery.
