HELEN DANNETTE HARPER LEWIS born October 14, 1936, passed away June 9, 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents; Ruby and Daniel HARPER. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 50+ years, James E. Lewis Sr. daughter: Dannette Ross and husband Roger, son; James E. Lewis, Jr., wife Eileen, grandson; Jack Lewis. Granddaughter; Sydney Ross and many friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Monday, June 11th at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Brookside Chapel of Chimes with interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park. Helen was born and raised in Houston. She attended Jefferson Davis High School where she was voted most beautiful and ROTC Sweetheart of her class of 1955. She was a member of the National Honor Society, and Thespian Club, officer of the Booster Club and American Legion Club. Helen went on to Sam Houston State College. After her marriage in 1956 she devoted herself as a wife and went on to live a very full contented life as a mother and grandmother. She was a Girl Scout Leader and involved with Jimmy's team sports for many years. She was an antique enthusiast, enjoyed flowers and learned to paint in oils. Helen will always be known and remembered affectionately as "Honey" and her legacy will be carried on in her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Health South Hospital for their loving care and attention extended to Helen and her family.
