Emma Richardson married H. R. Adams on December 20, 1871, in De Soto Parish, Louisiana. By 1900 Emma had had 8 children and 6 were living: Fletcher, 24; Susie, 16; Blanchard, 14; John R., 12; Taylor, 9; and Emma, 7; all born in Louisiana.

In 1920 her sons Blanche, 36, and John R., 32, were living with the widowed Emma Adams, 64. Living next door was Taylor Adams, 28, and his wife Annie, 21. In 1930 she was living with son L Blanchard Adams, 42; his wife, Katie, 30; and their 3 small children. 81-year-old Emma R. Adams died in De Soto Parish, Louisiana, on March 23, 1936.
