Vernon Louis Ernst, 61, of Springfield died at 3:12 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in New Douglas, the son of Albert George and Mathilda Boehme Ernst. He married Irma Louise Schumacher in 1952. He was preceded in death by one nephew. Mr. Ernst was the owner of Spirit Stop for 15 years.
A resident of Springfield since 1966, Mr. Ernst was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters; two sons; five grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Ernst Jr. and John Ernst; four sisters, Mrs. Lonita Braundmeier, Mrs. Irma Clayton, Mrs. Marie Buck and Mrs. Iona Kline.
Services at Concordia Lutheran Church. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
