Dr, William Henry Toomey, died of consumption on the 17th ult. at Great Bend, Kansas. He was a son of Milton and Catharine Toomey, of Americus, Kansas, and was born in Juniata township, this county, September 29, 1871. His peternal and maternal grandfathers were the late Emanuel Toomey and the late George L. Ickes, respectively. Going west wiht his parents in his infancy, he was reared at Americus, and recently graduated wiht high honors at Kansas City Medical College. He then located at Hoisington, where he soon built up a lucrative practice. While there at a patient's sick bed one night, he took a severe cold, which developed into consumption. He then sought the higher altitudes of New Mexico, locating first at Roswell and afterward at Raton, in the hope of benefiting his health. His brother, Ref. George Toomey, resides in Roswell. He was on his way home when he was prostrated wiht hemorages of the lungs at Great Bend, wiht fatal results. His mother was with him at the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having joined at the age of 13. His body was taken to Americus, where the funeral services wer held in the church on the 21st ult. with interment in the Americus cemetery.
