Kenneth Counts, 81, of Cleburne, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Wren House in Cleburne. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Kern Porter officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born in Bynum, Texas, to the late Clarry and Birdie (Laurence) Counts, and where he lived most of his life. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hillsboro Junior College and Texas A&M's cotton classifying school. On June 3, 1949, he married Carolyn Giles. During World War II, he served his country in the U. S. Navy. For a number of years he worked in the cotton business for the Esteve Brothers, and later as a salesman at Texas Power & Light, before joining Texas Farm Bureau for over 25 years. An avid golfer, he served as a golf coach at Hill College. He was a member of West Hill Church of Christ in Cleburne and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #196.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 47 years, Carolyn, on May 2, 1997; and sister, Betty Jo Davis.

Survivors include his daughter, Angela Hazelip and husband, Pat, of Plano; grandsons, Patrick, Andrew, and Philip Hazelip, all of Plano; brothers, Henry Counts and wife, Marinelle, of Cleburne, and Ben Counts and wife, Becky, of Arlington; sister-in-law, Helen Giles Buie, of Hillsboro; nieces, Cheryl Counts Bailey and Cheryl Buie Lewis; and best friend, Jean Dollar Triplett, of Cleburne.
