Mrs. Minerva Dorothy.
Mrs. Minerva Dorothy, wife of Gipson Dorothy, died at their home three miles southwest of Blandinsville, at 11:30 Sunday morning, January 18, 1914, aged 66 years, 9 months and 15 days.
Her maiden name was Minerva Andrews, a daughter of Sardis and Mary Ann Andrews, and her birth occurred on a farm in the LaCrosse neighborhood, May 3, 1847. She was married to Mr. Dorothy in 1866, who survives her with six of their seven [sic] children. All the [surviving] children, two sons and four daughters are grown and with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Alta Carver, of Canton, reside in this vicinity.
Mrs. Dorothy also leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn her death, George and James Andrews of LaHarpe, and Mrs. Phoebe Dorothy, of Burnside.
Her death was rather sudden and unexpected. She was in her usual health until stricken with apoplexy the Friday afternoon preceding her death, and remained in an unconscious condition until the end.
The funeral occurs at the home, Wednesday morning at 11:30 o'clock and buried [sic] in the south Blandinsville cemetery.~There were eight known Dorothy children. In 1910 it was reported that she was the mother of 10 children, six living. The two known children who predeceased their mother were Charles H., who died in 1899, and John D., who was born about January 1880.
