ISRAEL CHANDLER, son of John and Anna (Jones) Chandler, of Cleremont County, Ohio, and Harrison County, Ky., was born 4 mo.-30-1792, in Harrison County, Ky.; died 9 mo.-23-1875, in Bourbon, Ill. He married in Harrison County, Ky., 12 mo.-22-1817, LYDIA GRUELLE, born 4 mo. 1799, in Woodford County, Ky.; died 2 mo.-1-1867, in Bourbon, Douglas County, Ill., daughter of John and Anna (Burnham) Gruelle, of Harrison County, Kentucky. (Some of the family wrote the name Gruelle, Gruwell.)

After their marriage, they resided for a time on the Chandler homestead in Kentucky. They then moved to Ohio, where they resided for seven years, then to Coles County, Ill. (now Douglas County) and settled upon the farm where they both died. Israel was a Friend and Lydia a Baptist.
