Maysie was the daughter of Edwin MacKay and Marie (Jessen) MacKay of Cheyenne. She was born August 4, 1913. She had two brothers Harry and Angus and two sisters, Irene and Patricia MacKay.
Maysie grew up and worked in Cheyenne until 1937 when she married Carl Milton Christenson, a United Airlines Pilot based in Cheyenne. They had four children.
After being crowned Queen of Cheyenne Frontier Days and Miss Wyoming in 1933, she won the World's Fair contest that year sponsored by the Cheyenne Tribune Leader. She, together with runner-ups Maybelle Harrison and Gertrude Romsa, attended the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago as guests of the Tribune Leader.
She devoted her life to her husband and family and is survived by her sister Patricia MacKay Griffiths, her children, Jon and Bill Christenson, Patricia Shanks and Ann Tierney, her nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She will be laid to rest in Cheyenne beside her beloved husband Carl Christenson, who died in 1993.
