Abraham Perry Thomas was the son of Joseph Thomas, an early pioneer of Ray County Missouri, and Hannah Missouri Vanderpool. He grew up in Washington, Mercer, Missouri. A few years after his marriage to Eliza Frances Vanderpool, the family moved to Arkansas, Texas, then back to Missouri by 1894. By 1905 the family had moved west to Washington, then settled in Dayton, Yamhill, Oregon by 1910. They then moved on to Tillamook, Oregon by 1920, where he lived until his death in 1934. They had 8 children, three of which are buried at the IOOF in Dayton, Oregon.
