He stood 5' 8" tall and had brown hair and dark eyes.


In 1860, he was a carpenter living with and/or working for farmer Samuel March in Reading Township, Adams County PA. He is in the 1863-65 draft registration as a clerk residing in Huntington Township, Adams County PA.


He died from injuries sustained in a reported 15-foot fall from a ladder while trimming a tree in nearby Abbottstown.


His middle initial is sometimes listed as "G."
