Douglas Devar Burningham, age 75, passed away due to complications of Pneumonia on August 17, 2008 (his sweetheart's birthday) at the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch, Utah. Doug has suffered the past two and a half years with a broken heart after the loss of his two boys and his wife. He missed them deeply.

He was born in Bountiful, Utah on June 26, 1933 to John Asa and Priscilla Ann Warner Burningham. Doug married Mary Beth (Babe) Thacker on August 24, 1950 in Price, UT. They were married for 58 years. Along with their children, Doug and Babe owned and operated the Colonial and Sands Motel's in Panguitch.

In 1975, they purchased the Panguitch Lake Resort, working closely together as a family for 32 years. He developed Lake Front Estates Subdivision at Panguitch Lake, which he took such great pride in. Doug also owned and operated Plateau Construction for many years. Doug and Babe have made Panguitch and Panguitch Lake a better place for tourists and hometown people to visit and enjoy the beauty of this area. Through owning these businesses, they have made many friends throughout the world. From the time Doug turned 13 years of age he began working and providing for himself. He was best known for his great work ethic. Being the hardworking man that he was, he worked from daylight to dark and expected the same from his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite sayings was, "Ya gotta make a buck." Doug was a perfectionist in everything that he did, especially with his home, yard, shop and vehicles. He was extremely skilled with his hands and could build and fix just about anything. Even in his sleep, you could catch his hands moving as if he were still working on boat motors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Doug is survived by his children, Douglas Blaine "Mooter" (Sandy) Burningham, Jenean (Brian) Hampton and daughter-in-law, Sherrie O. Burningham, all of Panguitch; 12 grandchildren, Todd, Tina, Stoney, Frankie, Jonnie, Acey, Rawley, Bobbie, Stormy, Jake, Tuggy and Ty; five step-grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister, Calvin Dale (Lois) Burningham and Geraldine (Delbert) Atwood.
