Dean Sanders, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Sanders of Rt. 2, Section, was accidently killed at his home, November 1, 1955 of a gun shot wound. The parents were in the field at the time of the accident and it is believed the gun discharged when he moved it from the wall. The accident occured about nine o'clock Tuesday morning.
He was born and had spent his entire life in the Powell's Store community.
Other than the parents he is survived by three brothers, Joe Edward, Ray and Cecil, all of Rt. 2, Section; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Downer and Miss Lillian Sanders; grandparents, Thomas Sanders of Chavies; Mrs. Carrie Golden, Rt 2, Section.
Funeral services were held at New Canaan Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock with burial in New Canaan Cemetery, Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were:Hershel Martin, Paul Allen, Floyd Sanders, Homer Sanders, Erskin Phillips and Abe Hosch. The Rev. Rob Taylor and Rev. Mr. Stover officiating.
