John Hubert Clark

The funeral service for John Hubert "Red" Clark of Paris was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Fred Shackelford officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Cemetery.

Chosen as pallbearers were Jerry Evans, Alex Bomar, Finis Wilson, Sam Conger, John Foust and Tony Szabo.

Visitation was Saturday and Sunday.

Clark, 85, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Plumley Rehabilitation Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1923, in Paris, he was a son of the late Eugene Sam Clark and Beulah McLeod Clark.

His first wife Estle Blondell Hensley Clark died Sept. 15, 1975. He then was married to Ruby Lee Roberson Clark, who died Aug. 20, 2004.

Clark was a member of Springhill Baptist Church. A World War II Army veteran, he was a lifemember of Disabled American Veterans.

He retired from Holley carburetor plant. He formerly worked for 26 years at Farmers Feed & Supply in Paris. He also was formerly employed with Heart of Dixie Glass in Paris.

He leaves five sons: Wayne (Patricia) Clark, Andy (Sonja) Clark, Lynn (Joy) Scott and Randy Scott, all of Paris, and Don (Martha) Clark of Garland, Texas; two sisters: Ruby Davenport of Paris and Helen Newsome of Puryear;

Eleven grandchildren: Kathy Piland, Karen Welch, Sherry Durham, Michael, Alicia, Matthew, Kaylee, Gabrielle and Natalie Clark and Christopher and Brian Scott; and five great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters: Martha Wimberly, Dale Bratton and Betty Sue Crews; and seven brothers: Herbert, Sterling, Robert, Mitchell, Gene, Lester and Bill Clark.
