Doris C. Gore, 96, of Carolina Beach, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.

Doris was born on August 7, 1919 in Brunswick Co. to the late Phillip Marvin and Mary Mercer Cox.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James A. Aldridge and Burnice Gore; son, Gary Aldridge; brother, Lloyd Cox; two sisters, Edna Jarman and Betty James; and granddaughter, Tanya Aldridge.

She is survived by her son, Bob Aldridge of Atlanta, GA; daughter in law, Geanne Aldridge of Carolina Beach; step daughter, Carol Hickman (Jacob); brother, Grover Cox (Diane) of Florida; four granddaughters, Amy Smith (Allen), Kristi Brewer (William), Meg Krennerick (Chris) and Abby Sidibe (Olivier); one great granddaughter; three great grandsons; one great great grandson and many special nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, with the Reverend Johnathan Watson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Doris was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to so many. She loved working in her garden and was happiest when surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be forwarded to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
