Peder L. Phillips, died Thursday, August 13, 1992, in Royal C. Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mr. Phillips was born December 23, 1893, on the family homestead near Valley Springs. He served in the Army during World War I, and was a member and past commander of Valley Springs American Legion.

He married Florence Anderson on September 11, 1930, in Valley Springs. They farmed near there until they retired. They adopted a son in 1940.

Peder taught school when he was a young man and kept a diary/journal for more than 75 years. Hobbies included music, art, travel, and love of nature.

Florence died May 18, 1988.

Peder was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills, Minnesota.

Survivors include their son, Larry Phillips, Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Heath, Wayland, Levi, and Amber; a sister, Fern Witt, Luverne, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.
