Chesley Hidenoure, 47, Winslow sawmill operator was fatally
injured when he was struck by a falling tree while cutting
timber on Lee Creek at Devil's Den State Park yesterday.
Witnesses said a tree felled by Ridenoure struck another tree, causing the trunk to fly into the air and crush Ridenoure. Members of the timber cutting crew carried the injured man three miles on a improvised stretcher, then brought him to Fayetteville City Hospital by truck. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
