She was born in Ponca City, Okla. on Jan. 2, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ada Bonham of Kansas; her husband Fred V. Wilkey Sr., formerly of Water Valley, Miss.; her eldest son, Fred V. Wilkey Jr. of Illinois; and her two brothers, Earl and Roy Bonham.
Kathryn is survived by her five children, Nathan Wilkey of Nesbit, Mis.; Jeff Wilkey of Alpena, Mich.; Jack Wilkey of Charlotte, N.C.; Vickie Godwin of Water Valley, Miss.; and Debbie Lockwood of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Bill Bonham of Wichita, Kan.; and two sisters, Betty Davis and Lura Carlson of Arkansas City, Kan. She has 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Kathryn leaves a host of friends from her two churches where she was very active, First Pentecostal Church of Arkansas City, Kan. and the Church of Omaha in Omaha, Neb. She also served as a foster grandparent for six years at Francis Willard Elementary of Arkansas City, Kan.
Kathryn was a retired employee of Big Yank of Water Valley, Miss.
She courageously fought a year long battle with cancer and fought it well. She touched many lives, especially the children she came into contact with.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Omaha at 2 p.m. today with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Pastor Jimmy Toney will be officiating.
Funeral services will be held at Dahlgren on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at 11 a.m., with visitation being held Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Flowers may be sent to Gholson's Funeral Home in Dahlgren. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Church of Omaha or the Hospice House of Omaha, Neb.
