A Pleasant Day
Along the journey of life, pleasures as well as sorrows often come to the traveler, one of the pleasant days of their life came to J. R. Ragsdale and wife Sunday, March 28. It was the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. Fifty years ago March 29th near Clay City, Ill., occurred their marriage and as that day fell on Monday it was decided to celebrate the occasion on Sunday. After their marriage they came immediately to Indiana where they have since resided. Their first home was in Morgantown but for a number of years they have been citizens of Johnson county. Mrs. Ragsdale is at present not in very good health, but Mr. Ragsdale is strong for a man of his age being able to go to the field and work every day.
Those present to help them celebrate were their children, Romeo Ragsdale and family, Mayo Ragsdale and two daughters, Henry Hicks and wife of Franklin, Judson Ragsdale and family, Roscoe Ragsdale and daughter Beulah, Cordia Ragsdale, Mrs. Ann Owens a sister of Mrs. Ragsdale, George and Effie Owens and Thomas O. Owens and wife.
They were remembered with some useful and valuable presents consisting of gold and silver coin, cut glass and china. At the noon hour a sumptuous dinner was served. The afternoon was spent in conversation singing and prayers. All returned to their homes wishing Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale many more such days.
