He was born September 11, 1937, in Rock Mills, Ala., to Alvin James and Cora Bell Turner Greene. He grew up in Valley, Ala., where he graduated from high school. He attended and graduated from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala., with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He later moved to Texas and worked as an accountant for Lockheed Martin in Dallas. He was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Pigg Greene; sisters, Clyde "Mickey" Campbell and Catherine Horne; and brothers, Marion Greene, Alvin James Greene Jr. and Charlie Greene.
Survivors include sister, Laura Daphne Greene Vayda, Mathews, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
