Married to Euella McDoanld on 8-14-1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Orleans, NE. She died 10-21-2006.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Schwartz and her husband, Rick, of Hastings; brother, Joe and his wife, Mary Kay, of Waterloo, Iowa; stepsons, Jerry McDonald and his wife, Shirley, of Alma, Jim McDonald of Lincoln and Joe McDonald and his special friend, Camille Wells, of Naponee; stepdaughters, Joanne Schnurr of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Jeanne Smith and her husband, Robert, of Omaha; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Fischbach of Lincoln and Gertrude Fischbach of Kearney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers
