ASHEVILLE — Frieda Rudd McDonald, 95, of Asheville, formerly of Greensboro, died Friday, August 8, 2008.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, in Green Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, with Rev. Carol Williams-Gilbert officiating.

Mrs. McDonald was born May 26, 1913, in Guilford Co., to the late Albert and Mary Fulton Rudd. She graduated Rankin High School in Greensboro and attended Women's College. A life-long member at Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church, she was also a volunteer at Potter's House and Ever Green Nursing Home for 25 years. Mrs. McDonald was the wife of the late Charles W. McDonald who died December 4, 1993.

Surviving are her daughter, Jayne McDonald and husband, Bill Ware, of Weaverville, N.C.; son, Charles H. McDonald and wife, Kathy Toten, of Houston, Texas; sisters, Frances Thomas and Mary Fulton Swink, both of Greensboro; brother, William H. Rudd of New York; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church, 2303 Lee's Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.

West Funeral Home, Weaverville, is in charge of arrangements.
