Alva M. "Dick" Caldwell, 84, rural Frankfort, died at 7:15 a.m. January 12, 2003, in Wesley Manor Health Care Center, after a six-month illness.

Mr. Caldwell attended Boyleston school and graduated from Michigantown High School in 1936. He graduated from Purdue University with a short course in agriculture and had farmed and raised livestock all his life. He also had worked part time for Indianapolis Stock Yards.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Clinton County Farm Bureau Co-op.

He was born July 21, 1918, to Ray and Bessie Scott Caldwell. He married Mary Ann Buchanan on August 26, 1946, and she preceded him in death on August 13, 1998.

Surviving are a son, Rick (Connie)Caldwell of Frankfort; a brother, Herb (Rose Mary) Caldwell of Greentown; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Three sisters preceded him in death.

Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Frankfort, Indiana.
