Virginia Beatrice (Frazee) Morehouse, 89, formerly of Maryville, Missouri died Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Brighton Gardens in Prairie Village, Kansas.
She was born February 3, 1919, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Otto William and Jestine (Hudson) Frazee. A 1936 graduate of Maryville High School, Virginia married Marlin Lewis Morehouse on August 17, 1942 in St Joseph, Missouri.
She was a homemaker and sales clerk at Marfice Jewelry in Maryville for many years.
Mrs. Morehouse was a member of the First Christian Church, the James Edward Gray American Legion Post Auxiliary, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice and Hospital Volunteers and Widowed Persons of Nodaway County. Virginia was a co-founder of the Candy Stripers of St. Francis Hospital. She was a former member of the Board of Directors for Girls Scouts, in Maryville and a 53 year member of Girl Scouts of the USA. She received the highest award "The Thanks Badge" for Adult Volunteers in Girl Scouts.
In the 1950's Virginia and her husband, Marlin co-organized "Teen Town", a Friday night dance and recreational gathering for Youth in Maryville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin, on September 25, 1985; her parents; sister: Wanda Purviance and brother, Harold Frazee.
Virginia is survived by two daughters: Gayle A Hobbs, Kansas City, Missouri and Sharon and husband, Frank Innis, Platte City, Missouri; 2 grandchildren: Micah Hobbs and husband, Todd Mayfield, Kansas City and Jared Innis, Platte City; 2 great-grandchildren: Sloane and Gage Mayfield.
Virginia's interest in music, art, travel, photography and volunteerism remained central throughout her life. She continued to share these interests with her loving friends and staff at Brighton Gardens, her home for the past six years.
