Buck Charlie Beard's death certificate states that he was born to Daniel G. Beard and Susie Sledge. He died in Graham, Young County, Texas. Buck Charlie Beard married Miss Hettie Celestia Barber on 1 January 1912. They planned to marry at the stroke of midnight in the bride's home, but waiting anxiously for the minister to arrive in his buggy, wondering if he would make it through the ice and snow. Most of their 60+ years of marriage were working together in the Missionary Baptist Churches in both east and west Texas where Rev. Beard was called to pastor.

Graduating from Sam Houston State Teacher's college, the couple combined teaching and preaching until they retired in Canton, Texas. They later moved to Graham, Texas to live near a daughter, Mrs. James Taylor.
