He is famous as an eyewitness to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He was standing on the overpass on Elm Street with several other railroad men. He saw a shot from behind the fence on the Grassy Knoll. The puff of smoke was 6 to 8 feet above the ground, right out from under the trees. He heard three more shots after the first shot, and was certain he heard four total, with different sounds.
