Walter John Ames was born February 15, 1920 to Harry Guy Ames and Louise Wilhelmine Zarth in Sedro Wooley, Washington and passed away at his Edgewood home in the loving care of his family on July 31, 2008. At the age of twenty-two he joined the United States Army Airforce where he served in India and Burma during World War II. Once back home he married Marlys Eilene Sampson. He went to work for Washington State Hay and Grain Inspection on Aug 2, 1948 where he worked until he retired twenty-eight years later. While working as a Grain Inspector, Walter and Marlys moved to Federal Way in 1952 to build their own home and raise their family. They moved to Edgewood in 1980 and ten years later he lost Marlys, his wife of forty-four years to cancer. He then married Sue Archer in 2000. Walt is survived by his wife Sue Archer Ames; his four children, Jerri and her husband Mike Cummings, John and his wife Linda, Jeff Ames, Joe and his wife Sheri; eight Grandchildren; eight Great Grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 1:30PM Tuesday, August 5, 2008 Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.
