Mrs. Geo. Dorn, 96, Laid to Rest Here

Mrs. George Dorn, 96, died Thursday evening, Nov. 10, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Basler, 60 W. Washington street in this city. Death was attributed to the infirmities of old age.
Funeral services were held Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home here and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Celebrant of the solemn requiem mass was Father Frederick Dorn, S. D. S., of St. Nazianz, a nephew of the deceased. He was assisted by Father Joseph Bartlme, Msgr. George A. Schemmer, New Holstein and Father Herbert Little of Bear Creek.
Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Richard, Leo and Bernard Dorn, Norbert, George and Anthony Gilsdorf.
Mrs. Dorn, nee Mary Sommers, was born Aug. 15, 1853, in Germany, daughter of John and Theresa Sommers. She came to this country with her parents when she was five years old. She was married to George Dorn June 24, 1873, at St. Ann's church, St. Anna, Calumet county. Father Schleyer officiated at the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Dorn lived in Hilbert for a time and then moved to Chilton. Mr. Dorn died Feb. 21, 1928, and since then Mrs. Dorn had made her home with the Baslers.
Survivors are two sons, Edward of Chilton and Henry of New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Gilsdorf, Elkhart Lake and Mrs. John F. Basler, Chilton; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Two sons died in infancy.
Mrs. Dorn was a member of St. Mary's congregation here for many years and a charter member of the Christian Mothers Society. During her active years she did a great deal of needlework and was a great lover of flowers. Her kindly disposition won her a large circle of friends and in her late years she became known familiarly among them as Grandma Dorn. Many friends from Calumet county communities, Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton and other distant points attended the funeral.
