William Floyd McBride, 69 yrs 1 mos 9 dys, 2511 12th Ave., Moline, died Friday at United Medical Center, Moline.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moline, where he was a long-time member, or Association for Retarded Citizens.
Mr. McBride was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Barnes County, N.D. He married Betty A. Lindblad Aug. 1, 1948, in Moline.
He graduated from the former University of Illinois Extension School in Moline, now Black Hawk College.
He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 34 years, retiring as budget systems analyst in 1987. He previously worked at the former Minneapolis-Moline Company and the Moline Post Office.
He was financial secretary at the church for many years, a member of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Deacons, a Sunday School teacher and youth worker, and sang in the choir for 45 years.
He was a member of the Black Hawk College Alumni Board and the Quad-City Plus 60 Club. He was a senior volunteer and driver for the Meals on Wheels program.
He was an avid golfer, and played on the church's softball and bowling teams.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include the widow; daughters, Jane Olmsted and Julia McBride, both of Seattle, and Janice McBride, Moline; a son, Jim McBride, Denver; six grandchildren; sisters, Inez Kappelman, Ogden, Utah, Grace Orton, Tucson, Ariz., and Ellen Fish, DeBary, Fla.; and brothers, Thurman McBride of Edgemont, S.D., Owen McBride, Moline, Howard McBride, Rapid City, S.D., and Charles McBride, Upland, Calif.
