KING GEORGE, Va. - Richard Whitaker Alston, 65, of King George, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at Mary Washington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Louisburg. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was a native of Franklin County, son of the late Margaret Hunter and Alexander Burt Alston. He retired from the National Guard.

Surviving: his wife, Bonnie Luttrell Alston; daughters, Michelle Alston of Raleigh, Alexa Moore of Louisburg, Kathy Jeter of Tappahannock, Va., Mary Margaret Payne of Fredericksburg, Va., and Emily Alston of King George, Va.; son, Ervin Harris of North Carolina; brother, John Alston of Guntersville, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home, 103 W. Franklin St., Louisburg, and other times at the home of Alexa and Jeremy Moore, 2017 NC 56 Highway E., Louisburg.
