Lonnie H. Clayton, 75, died Friday afternoon after a sudden illness.. He was a native of Suwannee County and a retired farmer. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lougenia Clayton, three daughters, Mrs. Frances Carmichael, Mrs. Marjorie Nobles, and Mrs. Jean Ross, all of Live Oak, two sons, Dewey Clayton of Miami, and Monroe Clayton of Live Oak, two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Sermons of Sanford, and Mrs. Vernie Scoggins of Branford, 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 PM in the Advent Christian Church with Rev. Joe Timberlake and Pomeroy Carter officiating. Interment was in the Live Oak Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bixler Clayton, Jimmy Clayton, Johnny Clayton, Lavone Jordan, John Cannon, and Marvin Jones. Honorary: Luther Hicks, John Cade, Buddy Phillips, Duke McCallister, Johnny Jenkins, John Smith, Oscar Green, Otho Scott, Ronnie Green, Kirk Gaskins, Bogue Dees, Worth Howard, Hub Gray, Raymond Chauncey, Lavaughn Sessions, Reece Brown, J. Marvin Phillips, Vincent Jones, Henry Vann, Garth Nobles, Warren Nobles, Stewart Nobles, John Chambliss, John P. Schneider, G.B. Lord, and Buddy Hastings.
