Dr. Cleora Elizabeth Prosser Gilbert was educated at the Penn. State School for Soldiers & Orphans, & later at Mansfield, Tioga Co., Pa., Teachers College, she returned to teach public schools for l0 years during the Bradford Oil Discovery. In l893 she came with her mother to Chicago, to study medicine. While at Hanamann Medical College she met Wm. S. Gilbert, a classmate from Jamestown, N.Y. In l896 Cleora & Dr. Wm. S. Gilbert were married & started housekeeping at the southeast corner of Memorial Park, in Wheaton, Ill. Upon graduation the two young doctors opened an office & practiced medicine in a house where now stands Wheaton Memorial Roll of Honor. "She was a very smart Dr." said the late Dr.Chas. Mayo, of Rochester, Minn.

They had two daughters; Marjorie (Miller)
and Mary Elizabeth (Kaelin).
