David Woods Moore died at the home of his daughters, the Misses Lou M. and Dora Moore, 1149 Twenty-first street, Tuesday night at midnight. He was 80 years old. Mr. Moore was one of the pioneers of the state, coming to Iowa from Tennessee to Louisa county in 1842. He had resided in Des Moines about four years. He was a member of the Elmwood United Presbyterian church and had been in the active fellowship of that denomination practically all of his life. Came From Tennessee to Columbus Junction in 1842
David Woods Moore, whose death occurred July 21, and who was buried from the home of his daughter, Miss Lou Moore on Twenty-first street, was one of Iowa's oldest pioneers. He came to the state in 1842 from Tennessee. He first settled in Columbus Junction, and after several years spent at that place moved to Bayard.
